Casey Neal Rogers Memorial Rockfish tournament
Welcome to the CNR Memorial Rockfish Tournament website. The CNR Memorial Rockfish Tournament is held in honor of Casey Neal Rogers. On August 22, 2003 Casey passed away from a tragic automobile accident. Family and friends wanted Casey to be remembered in a special way, so the CNR Tournament committee was formed. Knowing Casey’s passion for fishing and sports, the CNR Memorial Rockfish Tournament is held annually to build awareness throughout the community, raise money for scholarships, and help the Fairfield’s Volunteer Fire Department.
Proceeds from the annual CNR Memorial Rockfish Tournament help fund the CNR Memorial Scholarship Fund. Because of Casey’s love for sports, especially baseball, it was decided to present a baseball/softball/football scholarship to a deserving Northumberland High School senior who possesses many of Casey’s qualities, plays baseball/softball/football for Northumberland, has at least a “B” average, and plans to attend a four-year university.
The CNR Tournament committee also wants to build awareness for other teenagers and try to prevent another tragic accident by learning from Casey’s mistake. The loss of his life is hard for everyone that knew Casey, but he would want others to learn from his mistake and help build awareness to educate others and hopefully prevent a similar accident from occurring to someone else.
While the annual CNR Memorial Rockfish Tournament is an excellent event and fun venue, the foundation for what the Tournament serves is much more. The CNR Tournament committee wants to put as much back into the community as possible and the Tournament is a major fund raising event that helps to accomplish this task.
